I recently saw a meme that said that Nazis did not have any Arab Muslims and they would have been discriminated against. This is entirely false, as I already knew. I decided people needed to be educated on Sonderverband 287, which was part of the Free Arab Legion. This was a mixture of Arabs from Iraq and Syria with Nazi leadership. The German military, SS, and Arab Muslims worked well together, though their combined military unit didn't have the success they dreamed of.
Iraq Rebellion
The start of the Sonderverband 287 dream started because the Iraqi anti-British group Golden Square needed help in throwing off the reign of the British in their nation. A common theme of many nations at that time that were controlled by the British Empire. The Germans decided to help, though the rebellion would fail. Those Iraqis who had been helped by the Germans, along with Syrians not wanting to be a colony, joined up with the German military and formed Sonderverband (Special Unit) 287.
Military Record
This unit would fight against the Russians, and then be sent to North Africa. They would end up being defeated, with many being taken prisoner. Some made it out of North Africa, which allowed them to be sent to Greece to fight, mainly against the Communist Greek partisans. These communists would go on to survive and require US troops to help fight alongside the Greeks, who didn't want to submit to Moscow.
There would be other military ways that Arab Muslims and Germans would be together militarily, but this was the main way. There were many political alliances between the two, as well. This is just a quick article to allow people to realize that the Germans and Arabs were of like mind and teamed up. Their connections were strong, which would probably have been less of an issue if the British had allowed the region to develop freely.
